We're famous in the United Arab Emirates. Stuff magazine contacted us and asked for an interview and accompanying photos. We gathered a small group of golfers while Denz geared up, shot the images and sent them off. The end result was pretty good. We're not thrilled that they're using us to pimp consumer products, but hey, that's what they do.

Check out the article here.

We're back, after a small hiatus. Though a few OGs are still golfing the Yay Area, a couple of us have moved north to Portland, OR. A new course is in the works, new G's are in the making, and a new Gallery section is on it's way.

Drop us a line if have any questions or suggestions about the Portland area.

Yeah, yeah, I know it's been a while since the site was updated. Too bad.

We've been getting a lot of emails from people wanting us to promote their golf products or link to their for-profit golf sites or whatever. Get this through your thick heads:

WE ARE NOT INTERESTED. FUCK OFF.

We do this for FUN and have created this site to show others how to get a game going for as close to FREE as possible. So take your capitalism and shove it up your ass.

For the rest of you, keep golfing.

We've added a movie to our Gallery page, for those of you who are interested.

Hopefully, no one will steal it, or worse, link directly to it and hog our bandwidth.

Urbangolf has become quite trendy these days, much to our dismay. We've been receiving a variety of requests to endorse or link to sites featuring "urban golf wear" or "the best urbangolf balls money can buy".

Not interested.

We started this playing our version of this game to escape the corporate bullshit that plagues other sports. To be able to play as we are, not as others deem we should be. To have fun dropping just a few bucks at a local thrift store.

Please, people, learn to enjoy life without all the trappings. Don't become another Madison Avenue zombie.

It's over, friends. The exploitation of Urban Golf is well underway. First Ronald McDouchebag, now Jaguar decides to sell us out.

Looks like we're sliding down a slippery slope. Let's all just stay true to the game and continue to stick to the shadows...

I am really angry. I just saw a Mcdonald's commercial that blatantly rips off this sport. A bunch of actors munching McD garbage roaming through an urban semi-industrial area knocking tennis balls around with golf clubs. Some of the scenes in the commercial look suspiciously like the pics in our gallery.

So, Ronald & Co., I hope you choke on your own product, you bunch of inconsiderate assholes. Leave the underground alone. Go pillage some other subculture, bastards.

Yeah, yeah. I know we haven't updated the site in a while. It's been a pretty wet winter here with not too many playable days, so not much to report. We'll try to get the new info and pics up in the next few months for you all to check out.

In the meantime, send us pics and details of your outings.

Happy golfing.

We played another round out in Alameda to celebrate Mike's impending loss of bachelorhood. It was a beautiful sunny day and we had a cart loaded with snacks, drink and tunes. Abel popped his UG cherry and Jay made another appearance. Mike continued his dominance of the Alameda course with his second win in two outings. Overall, a great day out on the toxic naval base.

Added a few Alameda pics to the gallery, too.

After a long period of non-use, this blog is officially reinstated.

A quick update from where we left off at the end of "Modern History":

The place we moved to in Berkeley was a ghetto-ass DUMP. We left after only three months, so the new course never happened. Then we moved to another town, El Cerrito, where we looked for a new course. Unfortunately, it's either too residential or too likely we'd get chased by thugs, so that course never happened either. We still went back to the Emeryville course occasionally, but it was turning out to be a hassle because no one lived down there anymore and the number of yuppies is growing exponentially.

So, finally, Big Mike and I scoped out a course near him on the decommissioned naval base in Alameda. Yesterday was our first official outing on the new course. It went well and the course is varied enough to be interesting, but it looks like this will be a daytime-only course due to the lack of sufficient lighting. It's quiet with very little traffic and hopefully not too toxic... The police presence was virtually nil, except for the one time I decide to take a leak against a building at the exact same time a cop rolled around the corner. Oops. He was cool, we joked about the "call of nature", and that was that. Overall, a great start for the new Alameda course.

On a different note, the last month or so has been a busy one for urbangolf.org. We got so many hits in July that we exceeded our bandwidth and had to upgrade our hosting package to accommodate the traffic. We've also been contacted but several members of the press requesting info and interviews, as well as many folks from around the globe who are starting up their own groups of urban golfers. Keep 'em coming!

As people email us about their groups of golfers, we'll be adding their links to the info page, and with a few more outings we'll put up an "Alameda" gallery for anyone interested. Someday we'll also post the short UG video that Xopher has been shooting and editing.

That's all for now. Keep whacking your balls!
